The perfect seafood dinner can only be improved by adding a glass of good wine on the side!
No matter what kind of seafood dish you’re enjoying, you need to be sure that you know the right kind of wine to pour.
Seafood and wine make a natural pair, and choosing the right wine for your dish can really highlight those flavors of the sea. Whether white or red, rosé or brut, the right wine takes your seafood experience to another level.
When considering your seafood, you have to know three things: the intensity of flavor, the texture of the meat and if it’s a heavy or light fish. For the wine, you also need to know the color, the sweetness and whether or not you want sparkling or still.
Most people know that white wine and seafood belong together. Like most culinary rules, if you understand why they exist you can usually break them, within reason. Sometimes it’s fun to break the rules — and it can be a rewarding way to discover something new.
For example, softer red wines like Pinot Noir also pair wonderfully with fish. Plenty of red, rosé and sparkling wines also complement a variety of seafood. Drinking red wine with seafood instead of white is a perfect example. In some cases, red wine may actually be preferable to white, but you’d never find that out if you were a stickler for the rules.
In our restaurant we have a great selection of wines and we will be happy to help you with your choice!
