No matter what kind of seafood dish you’re enjoying, you need to be sure that you know the right kind of wine to pour
When considering your seafood, you have to know three things: the intensity of flavor, the texture of the meat and if it’s a heavy or light fish.
For the wine, you also need to know the color, the sweetness and whether or not you want sparkling or still.
Most people know that white wine and seafood belong together. Like most culinary rules, if you understand why they exist you can usually break them, within reason. Sometimes it’s fun to break the rules — and it can be a rewarding way to discover something new.
For example, softer red wines like Pinot Noir also pair wonderfully with fish. Plenty of red, rosé and sparkling wines also complement a variety of seafood. Drinking red wine with seafood instead of white is a perfect example. In some cases, red wine may actually be preferable to white, but you’d never find that out if you were a stickler for the rules.
In our restaurant we have the best selection of wines and we will be happy to help you with your choice!
